Close to 30,000-holiday illuminations light up Chetola beginning at dusk on Friday, November 26th, and running through the end of Blowing Rock Winterfest, January 30, 2022. As you stroll around Chetola Lake, view glittering ice skaters, a Nativity scene, a colorful train, Rudolph’s “Holiday Catch”, and much more. The Festival of Lights is free and open to the public nightly. Park and walk around Chetola Lake, sipping on hot cocoa (available in Timberlake's for purchase).

Pro-Tips:
-Weeknights afford less traffic and wait times
-The lights come on at dusk and end around 10 p.m.
-Expect to be greeted by our security pros at the entry gate
-Timberlake's Restaurant is open to "cruisers" until 9 p.m. Sun-Thurs and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights

Winterland Game at the Festival of Lights--a new family-friendly activity offered this year by Chetola Resort.

“As you stroll through the Festival of Lights, enjoy self-guided games and activities that also extend into the daylight hours, depending on how fast you are. Chetola Resort’s Winterland Game includes Mad Libs Christmas Letter, Christmas Tic-Tac-Toe, Snowman Bowling, a Christmas Photo Station, an interactive Christmas Story, and an Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt at Tanger Outlets (this is optional for completing the game as you’ll need to visit the outlets from 9 to 5 when they are open). After completing each activity, add a fun holiday sticker to your game sheet. Upon completion, kids check-in at the recreation center for a holiday treat. Get your Winterland Game at the hotel front desk or entrance gate.”

Kids Adventure Pack at Chetola Resort
Enjoy the Chetola Kids Adventure Pack—a fun tote bag, water bottle, Junior Ranger booklet, snacks, and hiking socks. This costs $25 and is available to all Chetola guests at the resort front desk.

Story Time with Santa and Mrs. Claus
*every 30 minutes, 5 pm-7:30 pm Friday and Saturday evenings (reservations required, as seating is limited)

In an effort to keep Santa and Mrs. Claus safe this year, they have agreed to offer a socially safe reading of a Holiday Classic. Families with kids will be able to say hello (social distancing), hear them read a Holiday classic, and write a letter to Santa to leave with him. Offered every 30 minutes, beginning at 5 pm (last reading at 8 pm) both Friday, November 26th, and Saturday, November 27th. Reservations for resort guests will begin Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Sign-ups will be available the day of to the general public. Story Time with Santa and Mrs. Claus is a free event, however, we recommend a donation to Crossnore School & Children’s Home.

Carriage Rides, 5pm-9pm (reservations required)
Guests of Chetola Resort will enjoy this Holiday tradition of a carriage ride around Chetola Lake to see the Festival of Lights. Reservations can be made with Chetola Guest Services prior to arrival. Adults, $30/ each & Kids (ages 3-12), $15/ each. Payment must be received at the time of booking. Reservations for resort guests will begin Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Sign-ups will be available the day of to the general public for remaining rides.

Bonfire, S'mores, & Chili, 5pm-9pm
On Friday and Saturday evenings enjoy a toasty bonfire, delicious s'mores, and warm chili by our lakeside firepit. There will be a cash bar for adult beverages, bowls of chili for $6, and complimentary s'mores for guests of the resort.
