With over 78 acres of sprawling property, Chetola Resort is the perfect place to enjoy our 20+ onsite amenities or to create an adventure of your own! As we gently ease back into group gatherings one of the top priorities for many family reunions, corporate groups, and even wedding parties is enjoying activities together as a group. These activities can range from groups of 10 to 100 depending on what you are looking to do, the important part is that you remember to plan ahead!
Did you know that when you stay as a guest at the resort, the resort fee covers amenities like a heated indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, hiking trails, fitness center + classes, tennis and pickleball courts, fully stocked ponds, disc golf, paddle boats, kayaks, and more! But if you and your group are looking for something more, at Chetola Resort we offer a variety of activities just for groups!
One of the most popular group activities are our guided hikes. Guided hikes offer the opportunity to experience the beauty and foliage of the area alongside a trained guide. Chetola offers guided hikes to Moses Cone Memorial Park, Bass Lake, and if you want to go offsite for spectacular views, we can even accommodate transportation to the beautiful Rough Ridge hiking area along the Blue Ridge Parkway. And if you want to add even more to your hike, we work closely with local area experts who can take your group on a bird watching hike, a foliage hike, or a geology hike.
Our fitness classes are complimentary for our guests but if you are looking to book something unique we offer sunrise yoga, sunset yoga, or group meditation classes. We would love to help you book a private class either on our sprawling lawn, or in one of our cozy meeting spaces.
The same can be said for another popular onsite activity held inside our heated pool that includes building your own boat from the materials we provide and racing across the pool against your coworkers, friends, or family. This activity can be booked for teambuilding or just for good laughs and fun. And don’t forget all of the fun tournaments we can help you coordinate including pickleball tournaments, disc golf tournaments, and fishing tournaments.
If you wish to take a trip offsite and explore the Blue Ridge Parkway, our Chetola Sporting Reserve is only a 25 minute drive from the property. The Sporting Reserve features a beautiful clubhouse, clay shooting, archery, and a pistol range. Play a round on the 5 stand, or participate in our 13 station clay course, which is like golf but better. Reservations are always highly recommended in advance, especially if you are coming with a larger group for this popular activity.
Another fun offsite activity is our fly fishing trips. Chetola offers half day or full day wade or float trips with our Orvis endorsed guides. If you have never been fly fishing before, do not worry, Chetola offers onsite casting clinics right on our lake and our trips are great for beginner or experience anglers. Fly fishing trips and casting clinics are always encouraged to be booked in advance for smaller more intimate groups under 20.
If the outdoors aren’t really your thing, and you just want to kick back and relax, do not forget our onsite full service spa. Corporate groups love treating their guests, employees, and clients to our relaxing massages, facials, and manicures or pedicures. During the summer and fall months our spa can be booked up to a month in advance, so be sure to plan accordingly!
And if your group enjoys specialty drinks, local beer, or good food, don’t forget about all of the local restaurants (including the onsite Timberlake’s Restaurant), breweries, and wineries in the area. Chetola is happy to help coordinate brewery and winery tours. For smaller groups Chetola is happy to accommodate transportation. Our onsite restaurant, Timberlake’s also features a number of delicious appetizers including a savory charcuterie board that you can take with you on the road when you are exploring nearby wineries or breweries.
